Gemini Intelligence automates shopping tasks on Android

What Google actually announced

Google introduced Gemini Intelligence for Android in May 2026, with a phased rollout on recent Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices. Demonstrations included tasks performed across several apps, such as building a shopping cart from a list. The feature is broader than ecommerce and remains under the user’s control.

The announcement does not say that Gemini crawls every merchant product page or that a site must load in under two seconds to be selected. It is also not a new Google Search ranking factor.

What merchants can prepare

For a PrestaShop store, the reasonable response is to keep product information accurate and easy to interpret: price, stock, variants, delivery and return conditions. An accessible and stable purchase journey remains useful for people and automation tools alike.

Merchants should still measure real usage before making a large investment. A demonstration of automated cart building does not yet prove that a new sales channel will deliver traffic or orders to a particular store.
